Katy Perry and John Mayer are the subjects of fresh engagement rumors after she was spotted wearing a ruby ring as the couple enjoyed a romantic dinner on Thursday.

As reported by Digital Spy, a friend of John and Katy revealed that the news was not true at all. Rings are worn Katy is not evidence that they were engaged.

The source added that John gave a heart-shaped ring as a Valentine’s gift. The couple had planned not even engaged in the near future.

“Katy Perry and John Mayer not engaged, and I do not see the chance they will get engaged in the near future,” said the source on the Metro.

Katy and John himself had relationships since the year 2012, about a few months after the divorce with Russell Brand Katy. Previously, Katy also had reportedly close to a number of men.

“John’s talked about Katy being ‘The One’ ever since their first date,” a source told the mag, “He suggested they visit the wedding venue because he’s always thought Santa Barbara would be the perfect place to get married. He told Katy he wouldn’t want a big blowout, but would love the idea of wearing tails with a top hat!”

“He was also talking about how incredible Katy would look in a Vera Wang dress.”

It would be the second time the ‘Part Of Me’ star has walked down the aisle, following her 14 month marriage to Russell Brand, though the alleged “friend” reckons in her, eyes marrying John would be the perfect traditional wedding.

“Her wedding to Russell wasn’t her dream at all – it was his.”

They explained: “He wanted the over-the-top Hindu ceremony in India, with the elephant. It was all very exciting and fun, like Russ, but it just wasn’t for her. Katy wants a traditional wedding with a big white dress.”
